: As a child of an abusive home, and then a fatherless one, I have been very intimate with some of the dysfunctions that seem to proliferate and define our society. Not surprisingly I spent some time in therapy as a child and it was through this experience that I became fascinated with the psychoanalytical process and later utilized it as an aid in interpreting the world. Since this prepubescent time I have learned to cope with my own psychological scars through the ritualistic act of art making. So much I have depended on it that the act itself has become an almost pathological need. In satiating this need I have focused my work on interpreting and understanding the pathology of modern Americans, focusing specifically on the conditions that result from being a surviving member of this culture. My work covers a number of related topics ranging from the isolation that springs from an abusive home, to the antithetical emotional relationships that result from a single mother-son dynamic, to the legally prescribed addictions that mask the underlying dysfunction of the society which breed them, and finally the narcissism that has become a socially accepted norm.
